By default bluestore doesn’t use any available RAM. Unlike the page cache, the OSDs will not use all the memory
in your system by default, you have to tell them how much to use.

Important options to conider:

  • bluestore_cache_size
    • This is the global OSD cache size. If zero, bluestore_cache_size_hdd, and bluestore_cache_size_ssd are used
    • default : 0
  • bluestore_cache_size_hdd
    • The default amount of memory BlueStore will use for its cache when backed by an HDD.
    • default : 1GB
  • bluestore_cache_size_ssd
    • The default amount of memory BlueStore will use for its cache when backed by an SSD.
    • deafult : 3GB
  • bluestore_default_buffered_read
    • This will load data into OSD BlueStore cache when read
    • default : true
  • bluestore_default_buffered_write
    • When set to true this will land new writes directly to OSD cache
    • default : false
